2024 Eclipse Information

Eclipse Begins

Map of the eclipse path for TexasDuring the total eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024, the moon will blot out the entire sun.  You will be able to see this celestial occurrence along a line across Texas from Del Rio to Texarkana. Here in Van, for 3 minutes and 43 seconds, you will experience the totality of a full solar eclipse.

The City of Van is hosting a three day event with live music, food vendors, and other activities for residents and guests alike. Close enough to travel but far enough from the bright lights of the metroplex to experience the full effect of this rare event. Before the big day, explore Van's history with a visit to the Van Area Historical Oil Museum,  try your hand at Disc Golf or take a break at one of our local parks, check out our local shops and boutiques, or enjoy a meal in a local diner.

The majority of the event will center around McMillan Park, a 39-acre area featuring a lake, walking trail, play area, clean restrooms and plenty of open space to view the sky.

Freedom Boom at McMillan Park is family friendly and draws a crowd.
